GeoGAS Pty Ltd – Dr Laxmi Chikatamarla

Laxmi’s employer, GeoGAS Pty Ltd has formed a teaming agreement with Inkwazi Energy to leverage both company’s skill sets and experience.

Dr. Laxmi Chikatamarla’s qualifications are:  PhD Geology. Coalbed Methane Reservoir Engineering. James Cook University, Townsville, Australia, MSc Rock Mechanics. Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India, Bachelor of Mining Engineering. Osmania University, Hyderabad, India.

Laxmi has more than 30 years of working experience as an Engineer, Project Manager, Corporate Policy Adviser and Consultant for coal mining and coal bed methane fields. He has worked in Australia, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Mozambique, South Africa, and travelled globally for consulting work. Laxmi holds degrees in mining engineering, rock mechanics, computing and geology, with an expertise in coal seam gas reservoir engineering from both a fundamental experimental basis to practical field application. He is an active member of many learned societies, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

In Laxmi’s current role, he is responsible for the provision of due diligence and evaluation of CBM projects for clients such as Rio Tinto, Santos and numerous other large and small mining and energy organisations.  Laxmi also provides peer review of independent third-party resource and reserve reports and offers guidance on reservoir characterisation, modelling, and reserve certification. Laxmi has developed new protocols that minimise gas desorption time for 100 days to 10 days, with improved data quality and reliability.

Laxmi has published more than 20 papers in reputed International Journals and Conferences which helped in furthering the understanding of CBM reservoirs, enhanced CBM recovery and CO2 sequestration.
